In February 2015 the first goal of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) humanitarian initiative Patriot Defence was met with the distribution of 10,000 Improved First Aid Kits (IFAK) to Ukrainian soldiers.

The goal of the UWC humanitarian initiative Patriot Defence, led since its inception in May 2014 by UWC Director of Humanitarian Initiatives Dr. Ulana Suprun,  is to save the lives of defenders of Ukraine in combat by providing instruction in tactical medicine in accordance with NATO-standard Combat Lifesaver training and supplying an IFAK.

As of today, through the UWC humanitarian initiative Patriot Defence, 10,423 IFAKs were distributed and 13,039 military members of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Security Service, State Security Administration, State Border Guard and volunteer batallions were trained, as well as 2,384 students of military institutions in Ukraine preparing to graduate in March 2015. Courses are also given to instructors who conduct training in tactical medicine. In February of this year five instructors of the UWC humanitarian initiative Patriot Defence participated with American soldiers in a four-day course in tactical medicine at a U.S. military base in Germany.

“The Ukrainian World Congress credits UWC Director of Humanitarian Initiatives Dr. Ulana Suprun, and the numerous instructors and volunteers, with the success of the UWC humanitarian project Patriot Defence, as well as the generous financial support of donors from around the world,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
