Pope should visit Bucha: Sadokha about Pontiff’s statements

The Pope should visit Ukraine – Bucha or Mariupol – to start “bridges” of peace. This was stated by Pavlo Sadokha, UWC Vice-President and President of the Union of Ukrainians in Portugal, after the statements of the head of the Catholic Church about peace in Ukraine.

During a meeting with participants of the Catholic Youth Festival in Portugal, Pope Francis called on Europe to find “courageous” ways of peace. In addition, the Pontiff added that it is worth finding “creative ways” to end the war in Ukraine and “build bridges.”

Pavlo Sadokha says optimism about peace in Ukraine “begins to take on sad shades” after such statements.

“The Pope criticized the lack of courageous paths to peace in Ukraine and suggested building bridges of understanding. So why, until now, has the pontiff not visited Ukraine and not started building these “bridges” in Bucha or Mariupol?” Sadokha said.

The UWC Vice-President also said that during the news about the event, journalists showed a young participant from Ukraine who called for more help to Ukraine in liberating the territory from Russia.

“Will Pope Francis hear her words? Frankly, I believe more that this brave girl from Ukraine will change this world for the better,” Sadokha concluded.
