An international festival of Ukrainian song, music, dance, and visual arts took place in Rijeka, Croatia. The event was dedicated to Ukrainian opera singer Solomiya Krushelnytska.
“She proudly talked about her Ukrainian origin. She had a talent that the Ukrainian land had never given birth to before,” the Ukrainian cultural and artistic society “Dnipro,” organizers of the event, explain.
The festival lasted four days, and more than a hundred artists joined. On the stage of the Trsat Library, Ukrainian pop artists’ and world-classic songs lit up the air.
“We had the opportunity to hear for the first time the vocal-instrumental ensemble from Královec, which is successfully led by Tatiana and Vlado Tvrdovski, and this time in an entirely new composition, the ensemble of the Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Society “Kobzar” Zagreb, which was successfully prepared and conducted by Kateryna Mychka Hirnyk. “It is no accident that the two vocal-instrumental ensembles, “Halychyna” from Karłowiec and “Kobzar” from Zagreb, with many excellent musicians, won the first places,” the organizers said.
Anhelina Polovynka from London, Alina Vilchynska from Kyiv, Yelyzaveta Mazurets from Dnipro, Maryna Polishchuk from Kropyvnytskyi Oblast and Anna Pelykh from Dnipro were also laureates of the competition.
“It was four days filled with good creativity, song, music, or dance, the conclusion and climax of which was the final concert of all participants of all programs of the four-day seventh international festival of Ukrainian song, music, dance, and art,” the organizers added.
The cultural and artistic society “Dnipro” says that poetry will also appear in the program of the eighth festival next year. Participants will have a chance to recite the Ukrainian poets’ and writers’ masterpieces.
