The Ukrainian World Congress is launching an international initiative ahead of Aug. 24, Ukraine’s Independence Day. The campaign marks the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence and aims to unite Ukrainians and friends of Ukraine around the world through a simple gesture – gratitude.
Ukraine’s independence today rests on three pillars: the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ukrainian people, and the support of international partners and friends.
As part of the initiative, a global flashmob of gratitude and solidarity is planned. Ukrainian communities worldwide, as well as all supporters of Ukraine, will be invited to take part.
The campaign includes public events, symbolic gestures of appreciation to political leaders and opinion makers, gifting vyshyvankas in the parliaments of partner countries, and screenings of films about the history of Ukraine’s independence.
The initiative aims to strengthen international solidarity with Ukraine and highlight the role of global support in safeguarding the country’s independence.
