UWC calls for immediate delivery of air defence systems to Ukraine

July 6, 2026. The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) today called on NATO leaders and governments worldwide to deliver air defence systems to Ukraine without delay, following a second Russian ballistic missile attack on Ukrainian civilians in less than a week.

Last night’s attack on Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine killed at least 19 civilians and injured at least 77. Unable to advance on the battlefield, Russia is targeting apartment buildings, hospitals, and civilian infrastructure to make Ukraine unliveable and break the will of its people.

“NATO allies have the interceptor missiles and air defence systems Ukraine needs sitting in their stockpiles. Every day they hold them back, Ukrainian civilians die in their homes. The NATO Summit in Ankara is the moment to act, and we will not let our governments look away,” said Paul Grod, President of the UWC.

The NATO Leaders Summit begins tomorrow in Ankara. The UWC is calling on Ukrainian communities in the more than 85 countries, including the 32 NATO member countries where they live to mobilize immediately: contact your government and demand it provide Ukraine the defensive capabilities it needs, whether through direct technical support or the financing to build more air defence systems. Call and write to your elected representatives today, before the Summit concludes.

On behalf of the 25 million Ukrainians whose interests it represents, the UWC mourns with the Ukrainian people. May the Memory of the Victims Be Eternal. Вічная Пам’ять.
