Dear…./Your Excellency:
Re: CALL TO BOYCOTT PARADE IN MOSCOW ON JUNE 24 & BAN SOVIET SYMBOLS
As this year marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, (Name of your Organization) is deeply concerned about Russia’s exploitation of World War II symbols to justify and glorify its modern-day aggression, including the occupation of Crimea and invasion of Ukraine’s Donbas region.
Through state-financed propaganda campaigns like “Bezsmernyi Polk” or “Immortal Regiment” and the so-called ‘Victory Parade’, Russia seeks to present totalitarianism in a positive light, whitewash the horrific crimes of Soviet-Communism and affirm the cult of Stalin. Russia continues to manipulate history as part of its disinformation campaign in Europe and justification for fueling the war in Ukraine and elsewhere in the world.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the so-called “Victory Parade”, as well as “Bezsmertnyi Polk” mass gatherings pose immense health risks and demonstrate Russia’s blatant disregard for human life, typical of the Soviet totalitarian legacy.
The (Name of your Organization) calls on _________ officials, and you personally, to boycott the so-called “Victory Parade” in Moscow. We urge the _________ to condemn the glorification of the murderous Stalin regime by the modern-day Kremlin aggressor. We call upon _________to outlaw public displays of the Soviet Hammer & Sickle and the “Ribbon of St. George” from public events, public lands and buildings in_________(your city/country), as they represent symbols of oppression and tyranny.
The (Name of your Organization) calls on _________ to disallow the resurrection of Stalin’s legacy and Vladimir Putin’s attempts to forcibly reshape today’s Europe by imposing a new international order.
Yours truly,
