The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) commends the extension on 13 January 2017 by President of the United States of America Barack Obama of sanctions against the Russian Federation for one year until March 2018.
The sanctions were imposed in response to the illegal occupation by the Russian Federation of Crimea in 2014 and the violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
“In the interest of safeguarding peace, security and stability in the world, the Ukrainian World Congress urges the international community to firmly maintain all sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation until it fully complies with the Minsk agreements and all its international obligations,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
