The Ukrainian World Congress stated that it was “appalled” by Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó opposition to the 10th EU sanction package against RU.
On Monday, at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, Szijjártó stated that “sanctions have taken the EU to a dead end. Sanctions harm us Europeans more than the Russians. Everyone can see that. This is not a political statement, it’s a fact,” according to AA.
“How appalling. Budapest preventing EU support for Ukraine and promoting Russian interests,” the UWC statement reads. “After almost a year of Russia’s deadly invasion of Ukraine, heinous war crimes and genocide of Ukrainians, Hungary still can’t manage to distinguish good vs. evil. What a shocking example of political nearsightedness from a country that has seen Russian tanks in the streets of its own capital!”
