On July 14, 2010, the 22nd Sobor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada elected His Eminence Archbishop Yurij, Bishop of Toronto and the Eastern Eparchy, Metropolitan of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada.
The UWC sent His Eminence Archbishop Yurij a congratulatory letter praising his many years of tireless service in developing the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Canada, preserving and increasing the spiritual gains of the Ukrainian people and elevating its national dignity. UWC also noted his devoted work as the representative of Ukrainian Orthodoxy in the Diaspora on the Board of Directors of UWC and expressed hopes for continued fruitful cooperation in the future. UWC wished the newly-elected Metropolitan many years of boundless vitality and inspiration in devoted service to the Church, the Ukrainian nation and Ukraine.
