On 20 February 2017 the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) and Ukrainians around the world joined the people of Ukraine in paying tribute to the Nebesna Sotnia Heroes whose sacrifice must always serve as a reminder for the entire international community of the principles and values which Ukrainians still today are forced to protect from a foreign aggressor.
In November 2013, the Ukrainian people made a very clear choice – to live in dignity and freedom in a truly independent, democratic, European Ukraine.
As the hybrid war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine continues to claim the lives of brave soldiers and innocent civilians alike on an almost daily basis, and a rampant disinformation campaign aims to discredit Ukraine and its people, the international community must understand the significance of not only maintaining support for Ukraine, but increasing pressure on the Russian Federation to withdraw its troops from Ukrainian territory.
“The Ukrainian World congress honours the memory and victory of the Heroes and participants of the Revolution of Dignity, particularly the Nebesna Sotnia, and urges the international community to strengthen its support for the Ukrainian people and thereby, ensure that their voices have been heard,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
