UWC President Eugene Czolij meets with political party leaders in Ukraine
On 24-26 March 2014 Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij met in Kyiv with the leaders of Ukraine’s main political parties – All-Ukrainian Union Batkivshchyna leader Yulia Tymoshenko, UDAR Party leader Vitali Klitschko and All-Ukrainian Union Svoboda leader Oleh Tiahnybok.
The meetings focused on the Russian occupation of Crimea, the illegitimate referendum in Crimea and Sevastopol, Ukraine’s proposed UN resolution on the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the threat of further Russian invasion of Ukraine. Also discussed were the importance of implementing the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, the acceleration of Ukraine’s accession into the EU, the May presidential elections and the participation of monitoring missions, including a UWC observer mission.
“The Ukrainian World Congress will continue to work closely with Ukraine’s democratic forces to help resolve the current crisis and create the conditions needed for the development and prosperity of Ukrainian society,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
Participating in the meetings on behalf of the UWC with Yulia Tymoshenko and Vitali Klitschko was Ukrainian Canadian Congress President Paul Grod.
