With support from the UWC IEC, Ukraine’s Ministry of Education and Science has released new guidance for Ukrainian educational centers around the world

Members of the team of the Ukrainian World Congress International Educational Coordinating Council joined the working group under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine that developed methodological recommendations for Ukrainian educational centers operating abroad. The document is designed to help such centers undergo voluntary verification, join the official list, and organize the teaching of the Ukrainian studies component for Ukrainian children living outside Ukraine.

The recommendations include a step-by-step explanation of the verification procedure for educational centers, guidance on organizing the teaching of the Ukrainian studies component, ready-to-use educational materials for teachers, as well as advice on formative assessment and organizing learning without excessive workload. Special attention is given to working with children with special educational needs, applying the principles of universal design for learning and a trauma-sensitive approach.

For students in grades 1-4, an integrated course has been developed covering the Ukrainian language, literary reading, and the civic and historical components of the “I Explore the World” course. For students in grades 5-11, the curriculum includes Ukrainian language, Ukrainian literature, history of Ukraine, and civic education.

The full text of the methodological recommendations, guidance on the recognition of learning outcomes, as well as information materials for parents and teachers, are available on the Ministry’s website in the “Education of Ukrainian Children Abroad” section.
