The Association of Ukrainian Organizations in Germany (AUOG) has signed an agreement with the Federal Employment Agency under the German Ministry of Labor to work together on supporting the employment of Ukrainians.

The focus is to have Ukrainian diplomas officially recognized and for new arrivals to find work in their respective fields, said Rostyslav Sukennyk, the head of AUOG.

“Our negotiations with the German authorities over the past year have led to important agreements that ease the process of diploma recognition and employment for Ukrainians,” he said.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, a significant number of Ukrainian refugees in the country have managed not only to find jobs but also to learn the German language relevant to their professions.

“However, there are still many challenges, particularly for those with years of experience who cannot verify their qualifications with the appropriate documentation,” Sukennyk added.

The Association is currently working on creating mechanisms that would enable such professionals to find employment in their area of expertise.

The new agreement enables Ukrainian citizens to have increased employment opportunities in their areas of expertise in Germany. The next meeting between community representatives and the employment agency is scheduled for the end of October.
