Global Ukrainians thank Ben Wallace for supporting Ukraine

The Ukrainian World Congress expresses its gratitude to the UK politician Ben Wallace for his support and assistance to Ukraine during his term as the Minister of Defense of the United Kingdom.

“Thank you to Ben Wallace, a true friend of Ukraine who resigned yesterday from the position of the UK Defence Secretary. You played a pivotal role in creating a global coalition of countries supporting Ukraine and its people in their fight against Russia’s brutal genocidal invasion. Your courage, determination, devotion, and energy inspired many other leaders of the Free World to stand with Ukraine in the darkest hour. … This support we will never forget!” Paul Grod, UWC president, said

Ben Wallace has held the post of British Defense Minister since July 2019 in the governments of three prime ministers – Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak. The politician resigned on August 31. “That’s all folks! Been a privilege to serve this great nation,” Wallace wrote.

Ben Wallace has consistently spoken out supporting Ukraine and the provision of military aid to the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The United Kingdom was the first to deliver a number of types of advanced weapons to Ukraine under the politician’s leadership.

The Ukrainian World Congress also congratulates Grant Shapps, the former Minister of Energy Security of Britain, on his appointment as UK’s Minister of Defence.

Shapps repeatedly expressed support for Ukraine and promised to continue it “on the part of the United Kingdom.” In addition, the official is known for taking in a family of Ukrainian refugees at the beginning of a full-scale war.

The newly appointed Minister of Defense visited Kyiv on the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day. Then, Shapps promised a credit guarantee from London for almost 200 million pounds so that Ukrainian power plants would have fuel. In the Ukrainian capital, the UK politician saw “people who resolute in their defiance against Putin’s tyranny and Russia’s aggression.”

The UWC is grateful to Grant Shapps for his decisive support of Ukraine and hopes for fruitful cooperation.
