Head of UWC Mission: Government of Ukraine is doing everything


for the Presidential Election to be conducted honestly and transparently




On 19 and 20 May 2014 the Head of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) International Election Observation Mission (UWC Mission) to the 25 May 2014 Presidential Election in Ukraine, Bohdan Futey, met with Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk, Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs Andriy Deshchytsia, Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Valentyn Nalyvaichenko and Chairman of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Yaroslav Romaniuk.

 


The topics of discussion included the preparations for the early Presidential Election and municipal elections in Ukraine, and the role of the UWC Mission which has begun its work in Ukraine.

 


Bohdan Futey informed the high-ranking officials that the UWC Mission is comprised of 236 international observers from 22 countries and is the third largest mission to the 2014 Presidential Election. Most of the observers have election monitoring experience in Ukraine. On election day the UWC Mission will monitor the electoral process in 21 Ukrainian oblasts including cities in which mayoral races will be decided.

 


Joining Bohdan Futey in most of the meetings were UWC Chief Observer Peter Sztyk and UWC Mission Manager Myroslav Hochak.

 


“The UWC Mission will help further the expression of the will of the electorate during this critical Presidential Election in Ukraine,” stated Head of the UWC Mission Bohdan Futey. “The Government of Ukraine is doing everything today for the Presidential Election to be conducted honestly and transparently.”
