Due to an explosion on railway tracks in Russia’s Bryansk Oblast, at the junction with Belarus, traffic on one of the branches has been temporarily blocked, Ukrainska Pravda reports with reference to “Belarus Hayun” – a project that monitors military activity in Belarus. This interstate junction is actively used for military transport between the two countries.
“This evening [October 24], an explosive device went off on the railway in Bryansk region (RF) between Novozybkov and Zlinka, approximately 20 kilometers from the border with Belarus. As can be seen in the photo, the rails and several railway sleepers were damaged,” the message reads.
Nothing is reported about the organizers of the sabotage.
At the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, in February and March 2022, Belarusian guerrillas waged a “rail war” against Russian invaders moving through Belarusian territory.
Two weeks ago, Russia and Belarus began deploying a joint regional troop grouping, threatening a new invasion in Ukraine from the north.
