On Sunday, April 2, Ukrainians in Chicago held a large-scale “Bring Back Ukrainian Kids” campaign – a march extending from the Water Tower to Millennium Park, with blue and yellow colors, to tell the world about Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.
The organizers have asked everyone who cares about the fate of Ukrainian children to bring strollers, bicycles, scooters, rollerblades, and toys as symbols of deprivation that illegally abducted children experience.
Marta Farion, Vice President of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (Illinois Division), shared some impressive videos of the march through the streets of Chicago.
“Someone took my child and kidnapped him. Even in a bad dream, we can’t bear to imagine this, and Russia abducts our children almost every day. These are children who have been forcibly taken from their homes. Children whose parents were killed or deprived of custody. Children who have been deprived of their childhood forever. Children who cannot speak for themselves, but we can speak for them!” the event organizers emphasized.
On March 28, the Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, Iryna Vereshchuk, said that Ukraine officially believes that Russia has abducted 4,390 orphans, half-orphans, or deprived of parental care and deported 16,207 children from the temporarily occupied territories.
