Ukraine honors memory of fallen defenders

Today, on Memorial Day, we honor the Defenders of Ukraine, the brave men and women who died during the war unleashed by a misanthropic empire. Eternal memory to all those who gave the most precious – their lives – for the Independence of Ukraine.

This day is also a reminder that on August 29, 2014, Russia committed one of its first war crimes against Ukraine. Violating the agreement, the Russians shot at point-blank range the Ukrainian warriors leaving the encirclement from Ilovaisk. Among them were representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora, such as Ukrainian American Mark Gregory Paslawsky from New York.

The memory of the defenders must live on. The Ukrainian World Congress calls for the dissemination of stories about Ukrainians and citizens of other countries who stood up for the freedom and independence of Ukraine. In particular, through stories about their lives and struggles. For this purpose, UWC publishes stories daily in the “Victory Chronicles” section.

We remind you once again that Russia is an insidious and cynical terrorist state that poses a threat not only to Ukraine but also to the entire Free World.

The Ukrainian World Congress and the multi-million community of Ukrainians worldwide will continue to work at all levels to ensure that the Russian aggressor is punished for all his crimes against humanity.
