The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) calls upon all Ukrainian communities throughout the world to commemorate in the month of November the first anniversary of EuroMaidan that has been written into the history books as an act of unprecedented consolidation of the Ukrainian people in their indomitable aspiration to live in an independent, democratic and European state.
In defiance of the brutal attempts by governing authorities of the day to destroy EuroMaidan, it persevered and, at the cost of lives of the Heroes of the Nebesna Sotnia, was victorious over lawlessness, corruption and a criminal regime. The success of EuroMaidan, which evolved into the Revolution of Dignity, was testimony to the maturity, unity and heroism of the Ukrainian nation, its dedication to the ideals of Ukrainian statehood and its patriotism.
EuroMaidan irreversibly altered the consciousness of the Ukrainian people in Ukraine, erased their passivity and complacency, and instilled conviction in the triumph of their will, ultimately confirmed by the signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.
“EuroMaidan became part of the lives of the many million strong Ukrainian diaspora led by the UWC that demonstrated its solidarity and support of the Ukrainian people in Ukraine with numerous EuroMaidans around the world,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij. “The Ukrainian World Congress calls upon the Ukrainian diaspora to respectfully commemorate the first anniversary of EuroMaidan, sharing factual and objective information about these historic events in their respective countries.”
