The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) congratulates Ukraine on its election as a Non-Permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council for a two-year term beginning 1 January 2016.
Under the UN Charter, the Security Council has primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security and takes the lead in determining the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression.
“As a member of the UN Security Council Ukraine will be in a position to work with the international community on addressing the challenges being posed to international peace and security by Russian aggression,” commented UWC President Eugene Czolij.
