Ukrainians in Estonia succeed in canceling concerts by pro-Russian duo

Through the efforts of the Congress of Ukrainians of Estonia (CUE) and 16 other Ukrainian organizations in the country, planned concerts by pro-Russian comedians Volodymyr Danylets and Vladimir Moiseienko of the “Kroliki” duo have been canceled.

In early September, the CUE sent an open appeal to Estonia’s Ministry of Culture calling on it to prevent the pro-Russian performers from spreading pro-Kremlin views through their appearances.

“On Sept. 16, an official response was received: the organizers were clearly informed of the principles for selecting performers for appearances in the Republic of Estonia. The result – the concerts will not take place,” the CUE reported.

The performances were scheduled for Sep. 17 in Tallinn and Sept. 18 in Narva. In Estonia, the duo had planned to present its anniversary program, “The Best of 30 Years!”

“Sincere thanks to everyone who supported this initiative and showed solidarity. Together, we are strong,” the CUE added in response to the ministry’s decision.

In their appeal to the ministry, Ukrainian organizations emphasized that after Russia began its aggression against Ukraine in 2014, the performers continued to perform in Russia, took part in Russian state propaganda programs, and visited occupied Crimea.
