Ukrainian World Congress President meets with Prime Minister of Ukraine and signs Memorandum on Cooperation

On 28 August 2014 in Kyiv in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine the President of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), Eugene Czolij, joined by members of the UWC leadership, met with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk and signed a Memorandum on Cooperation between the Ukrainian World Congress and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (Memorandum).


Participating in the meeting on behalf of the UWC were First Vice President Jaroszlava Hartyanij, Second Vice President Orysia Sushko, Secretary General Stefan Romaniw, Vice President Paul Grod, Director of Humanitarian Initiatives Dr. Ulana Suprun and Deputy Director of the UWC Kyiv Office Sviatoslav Yurash.

 


The participants at the meeting discussed the Memorandum, the goal of which is to “strengthen joint activities of the Ukrainian state and the Ukrainian diaspora, protect the human, civic and national rights of Ukrainians around the world, strengthen the independence and sovereignty of Ukraine, secure Ukraine’s territorial integrity and further democratic processes in Ukraine and its Euro-integration and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.”

 


Particular attention was devoted to future cooperation on issues related to furthering the realization of Ukraine’s foreign policy priorities; promoting factual information about Ukraine throughout the world;fostering a more productive and mutually beneficial cooperation between Ukraine and the governments of the countries of residence of the Ukrainian diaspora; the provision of humanitarian aid to the victims of the Revolution of dignity and the aggression by the Russian Federation; the monitoring of electoral processes in Ukraine; furthering the development of civil society in Ukraine and Ukrainian community life in the diaspora; the development of programs  designed to strengthen relations between Ukraine and the Ukrainian diaspora in the areas of education, culture, youth and sport, mass media; global recognition of the Holodomor of 1932-33 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people; the promotion of the Ukrainian language and stopping human trafficking.

 


The meeting concluded with the signing of the Memorandum on Cooperation between the Ukrainian World Congress and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine by Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk and UWC President Eugene Czolij.

 


“The signing of this Memorandum is an important step in strengthening the cooperation between the UWC and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with the main goal of protecting the independence and sovereignty of Ukraine and providing the Ukrainian people with essential humanitarian aid,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
