UWC calls on Ukraine’s governing authorities to prevent Soviet-type pacification in the Crimea
The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) strongly condemns the anti-Ukrainian initiatives of Deputies of the Crimean Parliament to turn to the Russian Federation for “protection” of the Crimea, which were made during the session of 4 February 2014.
According to Deputy Sergei Tsekov: “We simply are obliged to turn to the Russian Federation, given that the Crimea – is a Russian autonomy, Russian by nationality, by culture and language … our protector can only be the Russian Federation.”
“The Ukrainian World Congress appeals to the governing authorities of Ukraine to put an end to such initiatives towards Soviet-type pacification of the Crimea, which are a direct threat to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
