UWC GREETS NEW HEAD OF THE UKRAINIAN GREEK CATHOLIC CHURCH


 


On the occasion of the enthronement of the newly-elected Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church on March 27, 2011, the President of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) Eugene Czolij sent the following greeting toHis Beatitude, Major Archbishop of Kyiv-Halych, Sviatoslav (Shevchuk) :

 


Your Beatitude!


On behalf of the Ukrainian World Congress I extend our sincerest greetings on the occasion of Your election to the high and responsible position as the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and Your becoming Major Archbishop of Kyiv-Halych!


Through the deeds of the Almighty and the will of the highest hierarchs, You, Your Beatitude, were deemed to be the most worthy to lead the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Churchthat unites millions of Ukrainians residing in different corners of the world. We believe that Your undeniable devotion to Christian ideals, depth of spiritual conviction, tireless work and wisdom, combined with many talents, will guarantee the success of Your service to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and the Ukrainian people. We truly hope that You will continue pursuing the vision of Your predecessor, His Beatitude Patriarch Lubomyr, who called on the faithful to lead a morally-grounded, responsible and meaningful spiritual life and furthering His ecumenical approach to our Orthodox Sister Churches.


In sharing the joy of Your enthronement ceremony, I express the hope that the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church with You at its helm will continue to work together with the Ukrainian World Congress that is the international coordinating body for Ukrainian communities in the Diaspora.


May God, our Lord, grant You many years of boundless life strengths and inspiration for faithful service to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, the Ukrainian people and Ukraine.




The UWC was represented at the enthronement ceremony at the Cathedral of the Resurrection in Kyiv by UWC Secretary General Stefan Romaniw.
