On 21 February 2014, Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij met in Vienna, Austria, with Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Ambassador Lamberto Zannier to discuss issues related to the current events in Ukraine.

Discussions included the tragic events in Ukraine, the Agreement on the Settlement of Crisis in Ukraine and the need to investigate the recent acts of violence in Ukraine.

The UWC President called on the OSCE to fully support the new government of Ukraine with a financial support package to alleviate the present tight situation in respect of payments and to help launch the necessary deep and comprehensive reforms of the Ukrainian economy.

Taking into account the experience in monitoring the electoral process, the UWC President called on the OSCE to continue sending observer missions to contribute to the most fair and transparent elections in Ukraine. The OSCE Secretary General responded positively to this appeal confirming that a significant monitoring mission will be organized for the next Presidential elections in Ukraine. Eugene Czolij, in turn, assured the OSCE that the UWC will continue to fulfill a leading role in the organization of a mission from the Ukrainian diaspora.

“Today the Ukrainian World Congress requests that the OSCE encourage doctors from European countries to provide medical treatment in Ukraine for the numerous injured on EuroMaidans,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
