UWC urges G7 countries to convene an emergency meeting in Ukraine
On 11 March 2014 Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij issued a letter to the leaders of the G7 countries urging them to suspend Russia’s membership in the G8 and convene an emergency meeting of the G7 in Ukraine to address the economic, social and security impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Eugene Czolij commended the statement of 2 March 2014 made by the G7 countries condemning “the Russian Federation’s clear violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” and the joint decision to suspend participation in activities associated with the preparation of the scheduled G8 Summit in Sochi, Russia, in June 2014.
“The Ukrainian World Congress urges the G7 countries to take further concrete action to ensure that Russia understands the consequences of its blatant disregard for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and unwillingness to remove Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
