WFUWO opens applications for Anna Kisil scholarship

The World Federation of Ukrainian Women Organizations (WFUWO) has announced the opening of applications for the Anna Kisil Scholarship for the study of the Ukrainian language.

Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to take summer online courses at the International School of Ukrainian Studies “Step to Ukraine” at the International Institute of Education, Culture, and Diaspora Relations of the Lviv Polytechnic National University from July 15 to 26.

All interested Ukrainian women from the diaspora aged 16 to 35 can apply for the scholarship. Applications should be submitted to the WFUWO email address ([email protected]). In the email, applicants should provide a brief self-introduction, a personal statement: “Why are these courses important to me?” (up to 200 words), and a recommendation letter from a local Ukrainian women’s or other community organization.

The second step is registering for studies at the International School of Ukrainian Studies “Step to Ukraine.” The registration form is available at the link.

The deadline for submitting documents is June 10. In June, scholarship applications will be reviewed, and 10 scholarship recipients will be selected.

Renowned Ukrainian diaspora activist Anna Kisil passed away in November 2020. “Anna Kisil paid special attention to preserving the Ukrainian identity of youth abroad, particularly focusing on the study and promotion of the Ukrainian language in youth environments,” WFUWO wrote. The organization established the scholarship honoring the activist.
