The USA has warned Russia about the inevitable responsibility in the event of a nuclear disaster at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Moscow should contribute to guaranteeing security at the station, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said.
“Russia’s leadership should think long and hard about whether they want to risk causing a nuclear catastrophe. Because if that happens, the international community will absolutely hold Russia to account,” Miller stated.
The United States is closely monitoring the developments around the ZNPP in the temporarily occupied Enerhodar. They stressed that observers should have full access to the plant, which is now being prevented by the Russian military.
“We believe that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) should have full access to all parts of the nuclear power plant, and Russia should facilitate this on the spot,” a US State Department spokesman said.
Earlier, Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, stated that Russia developed and completed a plan to detonate the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed this information.
Later, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, said that Ukraine informed the world of Russia’s terrorist plans to detonate the Zaporizhzhia NPP. This forced Moscow to change its plans, but RF will not give up its intentions to destroy the plant.
