North Korea has a direct or indirect influence on Russia’s war against Ukraine, as well as the attack of the Islamist group Hamas on Israel, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said during a meeting in Seoul with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
“Ukraine-Russia war and the Israel-Hamas conflict have something to do with North Korea, directly and indirectly,” Yoon Suk Yeol said.
The President of South Korea emphasized the importance of the military of South Korea and the United States to be alert and ready to respond quickly and decisively to any provocations from North Korea. In particular, such sudden and hard-to-predict attacks resemble the tactics of Hamas. In this context, Yoon called for strengthening the South Korean-American joint defense.
At the same time, the US Secretary of Defense said that US President Joe Biden is more than ever committed to further strengthening the alliance between South Korea and the US.
