Russia prepares for larger-scale hostilities – Nausėda

The Russian Federation is preparing for even more large-scale military operations, not for peace, Gitanas Nausėda, President of Lithuania, said. Russia’s war against Ukraine is a problem for the whole world that affects global food and nuclear security, the politician added.

Nausėda is concerned that Russia has officially announced its withdrawal from the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe. “This means that the Russian Federation is preparing for even more large-scale military operations, and not for peace,” the Lithuanian president said.

It is necessary to stop Russia’s aggressive war with the immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of troops and equipment from the territory of Ukraine within the internationally recognized borders of 1991, Nausėda urged. He added that the international community should exert stronger pressure on the Russian Federation so that Moscow stops attacks on the Ukrainian civilian population and infrastructure.

“The unprecedented environmental catastrophe caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka [HPP] dam must not be repeated in new, even more dangerous forms,” the Lithuanian president added.
