The Armed Forces of Ukraine are acting “very precise” and “organized” in the battles with the Russian forces, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said.
Ukraine’s defense forces’ operations were planned “in a very targeted way.” Scholz noted that he “ever expected that everything would change from one day to the next.” At the same time, the German chancellor emphasized the importance of NATO’s significant support for Kyiv.
“Many countries will be able to provide aid for one, two, three, and if need be, more years, because we don’t know how long the military conflict will last,” he added.
The politician added that Germany had created the conditions for long-term support of the Armed Forces. However, he once again stated: while the war continues, Ukraine will not be able to join NATO because one of the criteria for membership is “no open border conflicts.”
Earlier, NATO stated that they were not surprised by the “slow” counteroffensive of the Armed Forces. The Ukrainian command is doing the right thing by looking for the weak points of the Russians “carefully,” the Chair of the Military Committee of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Rob Bauer, explained.
