Russian troops fired seven rockets at ordinary high-rise buildings in Zaporizhzhia, in “the apartments of which civilians were sleeping,” Anatoly Kurtyev, secretary of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, reported on his Telegram channel.
As a result of the attack, according to Kurtyev, as of 9 AM, two people were killed and ten were injured. However, later, Zaporizhzhia Oblast Governor Oleksandr Starukh clarified that “one woman is currently known to have died. The death of another person has not been confirmed. Thanks to the doctors, her life was saved.”
There were fires in the city. Also, many people found themselves under the rubble; rescuers are working on scene. “The number of victims could have been much higher, but thanks to the timely and professional actions of the Zaporizhzhia emergency services workers, it was already possible to save 21 victims,” Starukh wrote.
