On 21 December 2017 Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij sent a video greeting to the International Institute for Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations (IECDR) of Lviv Polytechnic National University on the occasion of its 25th anniversary.
The UWC President highlighted the unique role played by the IECDR in furthering the development of education and culture beyond the borders of Ukraine, strengthening ties between the people of Ukraine and the Ukrainian diaspora, and sharing information about the work of the UWC and its members.
In addition, Eugene Czolij noted the long-term partnership between the IECDR and UWC that was formalized with the signing in 2016 of a Memorandum of Cooperation based on a solid understanding of the work of the UWC and the Ukrainian diaspora, as well as the significant creative potential and high level of professionalism of the IECDR team. Testimony to this is a range of valuable IECDR projects, including international congresses on the topic of the Ukrainian diaspora, the publication of contemporary educational materials for Ukrainian schools in the diaspora and the organization of various national events. Eugene Czolij particularly thanked the IECDR for producing projects in 2017 to raise awareness of the UWC on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, including an international conference, multimedia travelling exhibit, a video projects with 8 films, a series of quotations and Ukrainian Diaspora Days in Lviv. The UWC President also expressed gratitude to IECDR Director Iryna Klyuchkovska, the institute’s founder and inspiration, for the effort invested in building a relationship with the UWC. Finally, he highlighted the role of Lviv Polytechnic led by Dr. Yuri Bobalo in supporting the work and development of the IECDR.
Representing the UWC at the IECDR 25th anniversary celebration were Member of the Board and Chair of the UWC International Educational Coordinating Council Oksana Wynnyckyj-Yusypovych and Director of the UWC Mission to Ukraine Serhiy Kasyanchuk.
“The Ukrainian World Congress highly values the work of the International Institute for Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations and looks forward to the continued flourishing and deepening of mutual cooperation for the benefit of Ukraine and the entire Ukrainian nation,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
