Charity evening for children in Ukraine held in Washington

A charity event, Tech Explorers “Shaping Tomorrow”, took place in Washington, D.C., bringing together business leaders, tech specialists, diplomats, and civic organisations to support education for Ukrainian children and teenagers during the war, said Mariya Dmytriv-Kapeniak, President of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) Illinois Division.

The event was hosted by the Washington law firm Searby PLLC and featured panel discussions, cultural programming, and presentations from participants in educational initiatives.

“Our situation requires us to be smarter, bolder, faster, and stronger than ever before,” Dmytriv-Kapeniak said.

A key highlight was a public conversation between retired US General David Petraeus and CNN journalist Kimberly Dozier, focused on global security, continued support for Ukraine, and the role of education in post-war recovery.

Participants of the Tech Explorers program, run by Dignitas Ukraine, also showcased their skills, including drone piloting and other technological projects. The initiative provides STEM education and hands-on training for Ukrainian children and teenagers, including those from military families.

The evening also featured an auction of contemporary Ukrainian art, including works from territories currently under Russian occupation, showing the resilience of Ukrainian culture.

“This evening showed what’s possible when people come together to support the next generation,” said Dignitas Ukraine.

All funds raised during the fundraiser, $110,000, will go toward expanding the Tech Explorers program run by Dignitas Ukraine.
