UCCA Illinois President Mariya Dmytriv-Kapeniak receives honor from Congresswoman Delia Ramirez

Dr. Mariya Dmytriv-Kapeniak, President of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) Illinois Division, has been honoured by Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-Ill.), a member of Congress.

“We are proud to share that UCCA President Dr. Mariya Dmytriv-Kapeniak continues to receive well-deserved recognition for her exceptional leadership and advocacy,” the UCCA Illinois division said.

Ramirez also praised Dmytriv-Kapeniak’s dedication in a speech delivered on the floor of the House of Representatives.

“This tribute was formally entered into the Congressional Record – a lasting testament to Dr. Mariya’s unwavering commitment to justice, peace, and human dignity,” the UCCA Illinois said.

In her remarks, Ramirez called Dmytriv-Kapeniak “one of the outstanding community leaders” of the Ukrainian American community.

“This award highlights Dr. Mariya’s vital role in advocating for Ukraine during one of the most critical periods in its history. Her steadfast dedication to humanitarian efforts, civic engagement, and the defense of democratic values has made a profound impact both locally and nationally,” the UCCA Illinois said.

Marta Farion, UWC Vice President for North America and Vice President of the UCCA, congratulated Dmytriv-Kapeniak on the recognition.

“Dr. Dmytriv conducts a medical practice, and also organizes major events, marches, and advocacy in support of Ukraine both in Illinois and in Washington – a true leader dedicated to her community,” Farion said.
