KYIV, Ukraine (April 17, 2026) – Russia’s sustained kinetic and aerial attacks in eastern Ukraine have increased demand for protected medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) capabilities, particularly in high-risk areas such as Donetsk Oblast.
The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), through its Unite with Ukraine initiative, has delivered three armored ambulances to paramedic units of Ukraine’s National Police operating in the region.
This delivery includes two armored Toyota Land Cruiser SUVs and one armored Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck, each configured for frontline evacuation (CASEVAC/MEDEVAC) operations. All vehicles are equipped with B6-level armor, providing ballistic protection against 7.62×51mm NATO ball rounds and fragmentation.
The ambulances are equipped with electronic warfare (EW) systems capable of jamming first-person-view (FPV) drone control and video transmission links, as well as “Chuika” Signal Detector 3.0 units that detect nearby RF emissions, enhancing situational awareness and helping paramedic teams operate safely under fire. Starlink satellite communications systems are installed to maintain command-and-control connectivity when networks are down.
The ambulances carry SAROS 3000 oxygen concentrators and portable medical equipment, enabling en route stabilization of casualties during evacuation. Winter-grade Yokohama Ice Guard tires support off-road mobility across damaged or unpaved terrain. Together, these upgrades convert the vehicles into mobile armored MEDEVAC units capable of operating in high-threat conditions.
“Every minute near the front line is someone’s life. Our paramedics operate in extremely difficult conditions under constant shelling, so having specialized transport is critically important for us,” said Police Colonel Mykola Matviienko, head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Donetsk Region.
“These armored CASEVAC vehicles are an investment in what matters most – life. We are grateful to the Ukrainian World Congress for their ongoing support. The new armoured vehicles will allow us to evacuate the wounded faster and more safely, even under the threat of enemy drones. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, we have felt the support of the global Ukrainian community. This unity is a key factor in our resilience and the survival of residents in the Donetsk region.”
Andrew Potichnyj, director of Unite with Ukraine, said the delivery is intended to expand protected evacuation capacity in every high-risk circumstance. “Every second is critical when evacuating the wounded from active combat zones,” he said. “These armored ambulances expand the ability of paramedics to reach, treat, and evacuate civilians and personnel in some of the most dangerous environments.”
“The Ukrainian World Congress stands with Ukraine’s first responders as they operate under constant threat,” said UWC President Paul Grod. “These vehicles provide critical protection and capability, helping save lives on the front lines. Every life saved is a testament to Ukraine’s resilience and the steadfast support of the global Ukrainian community. We will continue to act with urgency so those on the front lines have what they need to endure, protect, and prevail.”
The delivery is part of a broader effort by the Ukrainian World Congress to supply armored vehicles, medical equipment, advanced drone technology, and other critical essentials to frontline Ukrainian units operating following Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
