Recently, UWC President Paul Grod met with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Warsaw where they discussed the security and humanitarian situation in Europe caused by Russia’s unprovoked aggression against Ukraine and ways to help and support Ukraine.
“We had a very warm and frank discussion about how the Poles and Europe can best help Ukraine, how we as the Ukrainian World Congress can work effectively with the President and the Polish government to strengthen international support for Ukraine,” said Mr Grod, adding that they also spoke about the biggest challenges currently facing Ukraine due to Russian aggression.
“For the Polish president, it is essential to prevent the Russian occupation of Ukraine. UWC, as the representative of Ukrainians globally, together with the Polish government and Polish people will work to encourage and support Ukrainian defenders,” pledged Mr Grod. “They not only defend Ukraine, but push Russian troops out, because their presence is genecide for the Ukrainian people.”
Mr Grod called on the world community to join UWC’s #UniteWithUkraine campaign that is supplying territorial defense units with vital protective gear including body armor, helmets, thermal imagers, medical equipment and first aid kits.
After meeting with President Duda, Mr Grod spoke with Ukrainian and international media about several of UWC’s initiatives in support of Ukraine carried out by affiliates around the world including advocacy and coordination of international programs.
