Ukrainians in the UK launch campaign to honor Holodomor victims

The Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (AUGB) has launched a global awareness campaign to honor the victims of the 1932-1933 Holodomor.

The public education initiative sheds light on the genocidal actions that claimed millions of lives in Ukraine due to the man-made famine orchestrated by the regime of Kremlin dictator Joseph Stalin and his henchmen.

As part of the campaign, the AUGB is calling for greater international recognition of the Holodomor and emphasizes the importance of remembering these events to ensure that such a tragedy is never repeated. The campaign particularly focuses on restoring the dignity of the victims and recognizing the Holodomor as a genocide against the Ukrainian people.

The campaign for remembrance is not about politics or assigning blame,” they say. “We believe that the Holodomor deserves wider recognition and that Stalin’s hidden purge against the Ukrainian nation should be an integral part of the mainstream narrative of 20th century history.

Current threats are also a component of the campaign since the Kremlin continues to weaponize food in its ongoing war with Ukraine. By disrupting farming activity and shipping lanes in Ukraine, Russia is exacerbating hunger and poverty in many parts of the world.

The AUGB invites all those with a sense of justice to join the initiative and honor the memory of the Holodomor victims, reminding the world of the importance of preserving historical memory and truth. More details about the campaign can be found at the provided link.

As reported earlier, the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) is launching a global advocacy campaign titled “Remembering the Holodomor – the genocide of Ukrainians continues,” to commemorate the Holodomor genocide of 1932-1933, observed this year on Nov. 23.
